How to choose for indoor led strip lighting

• Total the wattage, then add headroomDriver rating = watts per metre × metres ÷ 0.8. A 14 W/m strip over 10 m is 140 W, so choose a 200 W driver.
• 12 V or 24 V12 V suits runs under 5 m; 24 V is better beyond 5 m or wherever even brightness matters, because the drop is lower.
• Match the dimming protocolWall Triac dimmers need Triac drivers; smart systems and hotel rooms use DALI or 0-10 V; simple remotes and knobs use PWM or knob-dimming models.
• Watch for flicker and soft startBanding on camera or visible flicker usually means a protocol mismatch or high ripple. Prefer models marked flicker-free with soft start.
• Give it room to breatheLeave air space in coves and ceilings; never stack drivers in a sealed cavity. The hotter the ambient, the more headroom you need.

Indoor LED Strip Lighting FAQ

• What size driver for a 5 m strip?

  Check watts per metre (commonly 4.8, 9.6 or 14.4 W/m). Calculate watts per metre × metres ÷ 0.8: 14.4 W/m × 5 m = 72 W, so a 100 W driver is right. Slight oversizing never harms the strip and improves stability.
• Can several strips share one driver?

  Yes, as long as total load stays within 80% of the driver rating and each strip is wired in parallel, never in series. For long parallel runs, feed from both ends to avoid end-of-run dimming.
• Why does my strip flicker when dimming?

  Check three things: the dimmer protocol matches the driver (a Triac driver cannot take a 0-10 V signal); the dimmer is LED-rated and above its minimum load; and the driver is specified as flicker-free with deep dimming.
• Constant voltage or constant current?

  Strips, linear fixtures and magnetic track carry their own current limiting, so they need constant voltage (12 V/24 V). Bare LED modules, COB and panel lights need constant current. Every model on this page is constant voltage.
