How do I size a driver for a light box?
Total watts = watts per metre × total metres, then divide by 0.8. For 10 m of 12 W/m strip that is 120 W, so use a 150–200 W driver.Can it run 24 hours a day?
Yes, provided the load stays at 80% or below and there is basic ventilation — do not mount two drivers touching each other or bury them in insulation.The box is too thin for the driver
Use an ultra-slim model flat against the back panel, or move the driver outside the box into a side or top access hatch and bring low-voltage cable in. External mounting also runs cooler and is easier to replace.What about outdoor shopfront boxes?
Use IP65/IP67 potted models outdoors or semi-outdoors, form a drip loop on the cable and seal joints with waterproof terminals or potting compound.
